Balanced Living Day in Hossegor - photo special

A cloudless sky, sparkling sunlight and overwhelming excitement kicked off Choclo Project’s Balanced Living Day in Seignosse, Hossegor on September 5.

The idyllic lake provided the perfect setting for some serious paddle-boarding, a couple of outdoor yoga classes, a live music concert, opening with newly released Choclo theme song (soon to hit youtube)- courtesy of `MadDog`-a slack lining session and of course, lunch and a few cheeky wines.

With over thirty guests in total, Choclo Project`s Balanced Living Day was an absolute success - not only did everyone have a fantastic time, gorging on fabulous food, breathtaking scenery and participating in a range of activities; but the event itself raised almost 300 euros for the Peruvian orphanages run by Nuevo Futuro.

The day however, wouldn’t have been the success it was without the support, time and generosity of the yoga instructors, Karla Stanek and Caroline Beliard, the Natural Surf Lodge for lending their paddle boards, MadDog Moreti for his musical talents and comedic qualities, Stephie for the amazing photos and Les Roseaux restaurant for feeding the hungry masses. Choclo also sends out a huge thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to the day’s unforgettable good times, laughs and memories.

Clarky's column - Monte Clerico Beach, PORTUGAL

Team Algarve, to date, consists of Roland Parkes Wimbush (The Third), Diego and Clarky, ripping it up in Portugal, gracing the beaches, retreats and restaurants with their presence. What a combo. If the south of Portugal hadn’t heard of Choclo before; then it has now.

In an almond shell- there are plenty of almond trees in these parts- the Choclo rip trip has consisted of gypsy beach camps, visits to and shows at the local yoga retreats and centres, numerous surf and yoga events, the securing of an agent- a good looking one at that too- who is going to promote the funky new range of Choclo gear, as well as a fair bit of business-related (of course) surfing, swimming, paddle boarding, eating and drinking.

We have been graced with two weeks of cloudless skies, crystal clear water, white sand shingle-cliff infringed beaches and countless good times. The adventure has not only promoted the Choclo name and given us the chance to meet a bunch of great locals, but it has also been a learning experience, particularly for Wimbush the Third, and will definitely be a trip to remember.

Ireland Bound

Ireland so far has been awesome. The people are amazing and the surf has lived up to expectations. I started the day with a 6am donkey stand-off on road to a sketchy surf spot that my new buddies and surf guides decided would be pumping! It wasn't exactly pumping although it was big, nasty and we all left a momento on the rocks before leaving. Lucky two of them are the local life savers! Quick nap in time to wake up to beautiful sunshine and clean and fun little waves out front. The crew were awesome and everyone got waves. Tomorrow it is off to the Life Festival with the all-Irish dream team of fire juggler/stilt stuntman Bernard Mcglinchey, yoga teacher Deirdre Mullins and ex young designer of the year and stand assitant Annette Connor. Stay posted as it is going to be a cracker. R

London Calling - THINK ACT VOTE

Choclo was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days in London last week checking out the music and fashion scene. I had the opportunity to catch up with Amisha Ghadiali, Associate director of Ethical Fashion Forum and brains behind THINK ACT VOTE. Check out the video from the event.

Politics isn’t just something that happens in the houses of parliament and voting doesn’t just happen every four years. Every day we make choices that shape our world.

Think Act Vote is a campaign to inspire us to think positively about our future and the votes we cast, today, tomorrow and forever.

Think Act Vote was started by a group of friends whose backgrounds are in ethical fashion, politics and design. What brought us together was a shared frustration about the negative view of politics held by so many people in the UK today and an ambition to do something about it – creating a community around our relationship with the political system and the choices we make for our future.

The objective

This blog has been set up so you can follow Choclo as it travels through Europe in Chapter 2 of the Sowing Seeds Tour. We will provide you with an insight into the best Surf and Yoga retreats in France, Spain and Portugal, see what all this Slackline hype is about in Germany, meet up with ambassadors and Yoga Magazine in London, crash some music festivals in Holland and generally get amongst it. We will entice you with the sights and sounds from the places we visit along the way as we shoot the new collection, host on-site product testing and get inspired from the people we meet. I hope you will join us on this journey. Roland
